Orientation Camp

The Abia State NYSC permanent orientation camp is sited at Umunna Bende L.G.A Abia State. This camp is well structured and equipped to induct Corps members and prepare them mentally and physically to face the challenges ahead of their service year. Corps members area properly accommodated in the halls of residence and feeding is provided throughout the Orientation camp exercise.On arrival on camp prospective corps members are to report at the center for formal registration.

Activities

The Camp activities are as follows:

Man O War
  • MILITARY/PARA MILITARY EXERCISE: These involve leadership training through the Man-O-War drills on camp, and it equips members with physical fitness exercises. Life on camp is fully regimented. The camp Commandant has the responsibility of ensuring high level of discipline on camp.

 

    Lecture
  • LECTURES: Very important lectures will be delivered on NYSC and national issues,corp members stand to benefit from these lectures.

 

 

Social Activities

  • SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: a good number of social activities are lined up for the relaxation of the Corps members.

The Orientation Camp is in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. This is the new and permanent site of the State NYSC camp.

 

 

 

OBS Abia now live On 89.4 FM

The Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) tagged "the station born to Excel", can now be received life on 89.4 FM band. This is courtesy of the technical ingenuity of a Batch "A" 2008 Corps member, Mr Babaalaaya Rashid, (AB/08A/0342).OBS Rashid who himself was a member of the OBS during his time as well as the technical Executive of the Publicity CDS group said he was inspired to design the FM transmitter as an OBS engineer.

Receiving the transmitter unit after a test run of the gadgets, the State Coordinator expressed hope that the transmitter will go a long way to enhance information dissemination on camp.

Meanwhile, Corps members during the just concluded Batch "A" 2009 orientation received OBS broadcast life via their radio receivers, phones and other audio fm receiving gadgets, when they tuned to OBS 89.4 FM, the station born to excel.
